Races at Renforth

Make a poster to advertise for the following races that took place in Renforth. Make sure to include the dates and the location!
  • The Great Race: This race was on August 23, 1871. It was between James Renforth's crew and the Paris Crew. This was called "The Grudge Race" because the last time these crews raced against each other the Paris Crew lost. The Paris Crew thought that it was an unfair race because the water was rough. So no one really knew who would win.
  • Renforth Regatta: There has been a Renforth Regatta every year since 1971. They normally take place in August so you can choose a date. There have been rowing races, sailboat races, swimming races and many other activities. Years ago they used to have beauty contests too. Lately there have mainly been rowing races.
  • The Centennial Race: This race was on August 23, 1971. It was between a crew from Halifax and a crew from England. It was to remember a race that happened 100 before when James Renforth died. That race was between the Paris Crew and James Renforth's crew.
  • The Canada Summer Games: In 1985 from August 19 to August 23 rowing races took place on the Kennebecasis in Renforth. This was very exciting for everyone. People from Kennebecasis won a bunch of medals so lots of people came to watch the races. You can make this poster one that only advertises the fact that people from New Brunswick should come and watch or you could make one that just advertises where the rowing races are.
  • Regatta 125: The main event of this Regatta was a race between a crew from Renforth and a crew from England. There were other races too but most people were very excited for the main one. The Regatta was from August 18th until August 25th.
