Raised around Saint John, New Brunswick.
Was a member of the Kennebecasis Rowing Club.
In July of 1984 he won two gold medals at the United States national rowing championships in San Francisco.
Wrote the book Saint John: A Sporting Tradition in 1985.
Went to England to race as guests of England with three other men from the Kennebecasis area in 1980.
