Rowers Pick Up National Medals

MONTREAL - The New Brunswick Canada Summer Games rowing team, warming up for what it hopes will be a successful 1985 Canada Summer Games beginning next week, captured seven medals at the Canadian Rowing Championship held here at the Olympic Basin over the weekend.

The provincial squad collected three gold, one silver and three bronze. Two, other N.B. rowers - who are not members of the Canada Games team - also won medals. Rick Cassidy of the Kennebecasis Valley Rowing Club won a gold in the senior men's 145-pound singles while Tim Prince of Fredericton picked up the silver in the same division.

The three gold medals for the Canada Games team were won by the men's pairs of Chris Flood and Wayne MacFarlane of Rothesay, the men's straight four of Flood, MacFarlane, Tim Oland and Doug Boyle and the men's quad of brother John and Peter Oxley of Rothesay and twins Dave and Don Dickison of Fredericton.

The men's doubles of the Dickison twins captured the silver medal while one of the bronze medals came from the men's eight with cox. The women's youth eight with cox won a bronze medal as did women's youth pairs of Natalie Folsterand Leslie Fellows.
