Flood Brothers Snare Rowing Golds

Montreal- Brothers Henry and Brian Flood of the Kennebecasis Rowing Club captured two gold medals at the 1983 Canadian National Amateur Rowing championships held here over the weekend at the Olympic Basin.

The Flood brothers placed first in the senior men’s lightweight straight pairs and were also tops I the men’s open pairs. They also picked up a bronze in the FISA lightweight doubles.

Sculler Rick Cassidy of Kennebecasis won himself a bronze medal in the 145-pound men’s singles while Chris Flood, a brother of Henry and Brian, and Wayne McFarlane of Kennebecasis won a bronze medal in the youth doubles.

The junior women’s cox team from Kennebecasis made up of Carolyn Demers, sisters Elizabeth and Carla Vandenburg, Cathy Webb and cox Lilane McFarlane fourth in the final of their class.

Also, the youth eight from Kennebecasis placed second in the eight entry.

The Flood brothers, Cassidy and junior women’s cox four of Kennebecasis will now compete in the Canadian Henley Rowing Championships this weekend in St.Catharines, Ont.
