Regatta Today Commemorates 60th Anniversary of Race That Ended In Tragedy
The weather man promises success today for the big regatta at Renforth Warf when it is expected thousands will be attracted to the popular Kennebecasis summer resort to witness a fine program of aquatic and land sport.. Included In the events are a road race, sculling races, swimming race, and motor boat races, entries for these contests having been attracted from various parts of the Maritimes.
The regatta is being held in commemoration of the famous race between the Paris and Renforth crews which was held on the Kennebecasis just 60 years ago Sunday, August 23, when James, Renforth, stroke of the British crew, collapsed during the race and died soon afterwards.

The oarsmen are George Price, bow; Samuel Hutton, forward midship; Elijah Ross, aft midship, and Robert Fulton stroke. At the right is shown the Renforth crew, which met defeat that day. James Renforth, stroke of the crew, is the man seated at the back with folded arms.
