An enthusiastic group of 11 boys and five girls, the cream of the junior crop at the Renforth Boating Club leaves Thursday to compete at the Canadian Nationals in the Olympic Basin in Montreal, Aug. 4 and 5. Following this weekend of racing they will travel on to St. Catharines, Ontario, to compete in the Royal Canadian Henley from Aug. 8 to 12.

The young athletes are part of the Jeux Canada Games team from Renforth, and from their numbers will be chosen a team of four to compete in a re-enactment of the famous 1871 race that gave Renforth its name, scheduled for, Aug. 18.

When the junior team members in the company of their coach Keith Ratcliffe arrive in Montreal, they will see the senior members of the club who are already there, fresh from American gold medal performances. They are Rick Cassidy and Brian Flood, both of Renforth.

The juniors are fresh from victory as well, having captured the overall title by sweeping nine of the 19 events at the recent Dartmouth Sprints Rowing Championship.

The girls will compete in the ‘four' event plus coxswain in both the Nationals and Henley. At the Nationals the boys will compete in the two-man class or pairs, the fours and the eight- man classes. At the Henley they will compete in the four and eights.

Cassidy and Flood will compete in the single scull events at both meets.
