Annual Renforth Regatta Pleases Many Hundreds Of Spectators From City

Sports Events Run Off Smoothly In Perfect Weather

With a gay and colourful crowd lining the beach and boat pier by the hundreds, the annual Renforth Regatta and Fair was again successfully staged at the suburban resort on Saturday afternoon and evening. Yacht races, swimming and diving competitions, speedboat and canoe contests and a number of special events were all part of the regular program. It was held under the sponsorship of the Renforth Outing Association.

The inter-club race between the Rothesay Yacht Club and the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club for the Mackay Trophy was won by the Rothesay Group, 11 points to six. At the same time the Rothesay Club won the annual Renforth Trophy for Class 5 yachts.

General chairman of the regatta was Thomas Henderson, Karl Schmidt was chairman of the water events and Graeme Clarke was in charge of the land events. William C. Clark was competitor chairman. Clerks of the course were James Hoyt and Don Ellison. Timer and judge, Don McGowan; judge, Hilary Howes, starter, Sam McManus.
